Westside gets ready to play with some high hand-slapping.

Papio South catcher Brian Donohoe goes down the line firing up his teammates.

Home team coach Bob Greco explains the ground rules to plate umpire Helvering and to his former Iowa Western teammate, Bill Lynam.

Senior lefty Peter Thomas (3-0) threw a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out two.

Courtesy runner Sean Higgins adds a step to his lead.  Junior shortstop Beau Suponchick plays a high hop off the turf.

The same play is captured from a different camera angle.

Alec Wiliams slides into second with a second inning double that scored Dylan Flott as Beau Suponchick dives to make the tag.

Is the runner out or safe on the play?  The call was "safe."

Jory Goldstrom comes to the plate with a runner on and two-out in the bottom of the second.  The speedy Williams steals third ....

.... and Goldstrom brings him home by driving a ground ball just past the reach of a diving Caleb Palensky.

Palensky has an easier to play to get the next batter, Dan Dunn, for the third out.

Junior Ethan Schroeder was the starting pitcher for the Titans.

There were several malfunctions around first base during the game, including this errant pickoff attempt that got past the outstretched glove of Ryan Tomlinson and allowed the second Papio South run to score.

The errant pickoff attempts were not limited to Westside.  Here baserunner Dan Dunn and first baseman Mathias Godsil collide as Godsil tries to reach out to a pickoff throw behind the runner as Dunn returns to first.  Dunn was able to advance to third on the play.

Junior Deric Barber came on in relief in the bottom of the fourth. A wild pitch by Barber allows Dunn to score from third.
Alec Williams drives the ball to centerfield where it is caught by Evan Connell. Beau Suponchick drives the ball hard up the middle but right to second baseman Dan Dunn.  (Notice how these bats flex during the swing.)

Chris Johnson came in at second base in the top of the 7th and promptly took a base hit away from lead off hitter Steven Bougher on a nice play.
Tomlinson stretches to receive the throw from Johnson in time to get Bougher. Johnson recorded the second out as well on a ground ball by Mathias Godsil.
