High shutter-speed photography reveals details of the game that are imperceptible to the unaided eye. Here Bob Irlbeck captures the instant when Dunn flips the ball out of his glove towards Rupp .... along with a small load of infield aggregate granules that were scooped up with the ball.


Similarly, Irlbeck captures the detail of Flott's slide as his foot extends towards the bag and Saxton's glove swipes downward in front of the bag. Irlbeck, who normally shoots games played on Westside's artificial turf, looked at the image in his viewfinder and exclaimed, "Cool! Dirt!"
