Adam Lavelle makes a nice running catch on a ball hit into the gap in right center.  Lavelle then doubled off the runner at 1st to end the inning.

Big (6'4", 220 lb) sophomore rightfielder David Sutton moves nicely to a ball hit towards the line.

Sophomore Taylor Doggett grounded out on this swing but later had the game-winning RBI on a bunt single.

Freshman Tanner Kirk filled in nicely at shortstop for senior Josh Scheffert who was on the mound.

The Jobafather, Harlan Chamberlain, still likes to get out to a high school ball game, but leaves no doubt about who his favorite team is.

OK, young hitters, when your coach uses the word "extension," this is what he's talking about.  Take a lesson here from Professor Scheffert.  School is in session.

Silver Hawks' senior catcher John Mulgrue picks up the sign from the dugout.

Sophomore third baseman Will Herman unloads a throw.

Adam Lavelle picks up the sign from Coach K and smiles as he sees that the "get up there and hit the heck out of the baseball" sign is on.

Unfortunately, Lavelle hits the heck out of the ball right to the Knights' left fielder, Travis Miller, who makes the catch at the warning track.

Southwest shortstop Rylan Cotton slides into third as the Silver Hawks mount a fourth inning scoring threat.

Back out in the field, Cotton fields a ground ball as second baseman Ryan Haas backs up the play.

Scheffert develops a lot of velocity with his powerful legs and upper body.

The future Husker gets off the mound quickly to field a bunt.

Southwest pitcher Adam Peters displayed confidence and poise on the mound.

Cotton draws a bead on a ground ball as Lavelle comes up to assist.

Freshman shortstop Tanner Kirk takes a quick inventory to make sure that (a) his hand is still attached to his arm, and (b) the screaming grounder off the bat of Mark Korsakas is really in his glove, then calmly throws to 1st for the out.

Coach Doug Kaltenberger signals for Dustin Bloch to slide as 2nd baseman Jordan Kirk prepares to throw the ball to third in an attempt to get the runner.

Dustin gets a good dustin' as he dives headfirst into third with a one-out triple.  The winning run is now only 90' feet away from the plate.

With the game on the line, the entire Knights' infield meets at the mound to discuss defensive strategy.

With the Knights' defense pulled in to guard against a squeeze play, Bloch creeps down the line towards home.

On the second pitch Taylor Doggett gets a fastball down the middle and is able to push it to right of the mound.  (Ball in extreme lower left corner)

Doggett turns and sprints towards first as Scheffert goes to his left to field the ball. Although not likely to receive a high rating on style points, Bloch's kneeling slide gets him to the plate for the winning run before Scheffert can get the ball home.

Winning pitcher Adam Peters celebrates with his teammates.  Young Taylor Doggett (center) came through in the clutch.
