BaseballNebraska Seeking Reader Assistance with Advertising Leads

February 19, 2009

BaseballNebraska.com is a free resource for our readers, and we intend to keep it that way.  However, this site can't exist without reliable sources of revenue to fund its operation.  Rather than using a paid-subscription model, our solution to revenue generation is to sell advertising placement on the website.  In order to identify prospective advertisers across the state who might like to advertise here, we are asking for your assistance.

Here's how you can help:

  • Think of businesses in your community, in your neighborhood or near your school that might be interested in advertising on BaseballNebraska.com

  • Fill out and submit the "Prospective Advertiser Form" below.  We will then follow up on your leads and contact the prospective advertiser.  (If you think of more than one prospective advertiser, please submit one form for each.)  If your lead results in the prospect becoming one of our advertisers, you will receive a complimentary, cool-looking BaseballNebraska.com T-shirt.

When thinking of prospective advertisers, here are some things that you may want to look for:

  • Businesses that have an established reputation for being strong supporters of baseball in your community.  Perhaps the owner of the business played baseball himself or had a son who did -- and has remained a strong advocate for baseball in your community.

  • Businesses that have a "youth oriented" customer base, such as senior portrait photographers, DJ's, pizza places, video stores, music stores, movie theaters, clothing stores, orthodontists, certain types of restaurants, etc. Think about places where you spend money regularly.

  • Businesses that have some baseball connection: sporting goods stores, batting cages, stores specializing in athletic footwear, clothing stores that sell athletic apparel, photographers who take sports team photos, sports medicine or orthopedic clinics, strength, conditioning and agility training facilities, etc.

  • Businesses where you or your family have an established relationship, such as, a medical practice group, veterinarian, barber, income tax service, optometrist, accountant, lawyer, doctor, plumber, handyman, lawn service, your rich uncle's business.

  • Businesses that have some connection to your high school or that have traditionally supported your high school's programs. Pick up a yearbook from past years and look at which businesses advertised in it. Or look around at other advertising that may be around your school. Ask your teachers or coaches if they can tell you the names of businesses that have been supportive of your school in the past or that are owned and operated by alumni of your school.

  • Businesses that cater to active people or athletes generally: bike shops, exercise equipment stores, personal trainers, hiking/backpacking/camping stores, athletic shoe stores.

  • Businesses that are in the neighborhood of your school: gas stations, dry cleaners, grocery stores, drug stores, bagel shops, coffee shops, insurance companies, radio stations, television stations, real estate agents, etc. Think about the businesses that you drive by every day that are part of your community.

  • Businesses that are looking to have you as customers in the very near future as you become a young adult: banks, colleges, car dealers, insurance agents, stockbrokers.

By providing these kinds of leads, you are helping to keep BaseballNebraska "on the air" and you are also giving businesses an opportunity to reach a broader market in a very cost-effective manner.

But most importantly, we ask that all readers please support businesses that advertise on BaseballNebraska.com.  Let those businesses know how much you appreciate their support of our sport by shopping there.  And be sure to tell them that you saw their ad on this website and that you appreciate their support of Nebraska high school baseball.
